 .... For many people, college years create space and time for you to finally make your faith your own. It is the place where God reminds you that you cannot live on the faith of your parents, your church or your culture forever. It is my role to walk beside you as you answer the questions God will inevitably be asking you while you are here. In the context of dorm life you will learn about the struggle and the blessings of living in community. In outreach to the poor and displaced you will learn about God’s heart for the outsider and the alien. In worship you will discover the pleasure of reflecting the glory of God. In academics you will allow God to transform your mind and in the beautiful surroundings of the Blue Ridge Mountains you will be continually reminded that we serve an incredibly imaginative Creator.... Reflections on Worship at Montreat

Worship is an interesting thing at Montreat College... that Montreat is a diverse place, with diverse religious traditions and preferences, although the college itself is historically Presbyterian. Among my close friends there are some who grew up reciting liturgies in ancient pews and others who were raised in congregations who spoke in tongues and danced through worship. Some find that they worship best through service to the community. Still others meet with God most naturally in quiet solitude with a Bible and a journal.
