Alpha Chi National College Honor Society is one of the most prestigious American collegiate honor societies recognizing achievements in scholarship. It was founded on February 22, 1922 at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
Membership in Alpha Chi is extended to students who are in the top ten percent of their classes and demonstrate a good reputation and character. Alpha Chi's name is derived from the initial letters of the Greek words “Aletheia,” meaning truth, and “Xapakthp,” meaning character.
Alpha Chi’s motto is derived from the gospel of John: "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32, NKJV).
During the ceremony, the College also recognized current Alpha Chi members Nora (Katie) Beauchamp, Jaime Robinette Dill, Susannah Frawley, and Jared Nielsen.
Inactive members who are staff and faculty at Montreat College were also recognized, including Dr. Brad Daniel of NC Alpha, Dr. Cynthia Howell of Texas Gamma, Kim McMurtry of NC Tau, and Dr. Karen Struble of Texas Gamma.
