Beth Braboy

Dr. Beth Braboy joined the Montreat College faculty in 1998 and was responsible for creating and implementing the Elementary Education program at the college. She has been hard at work in that program since. According to her philosophy of education, "Teaching begins with a heart for service, an opening to the needs around you… to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8)."

When it comes to life in the classroom, Dr. Braboy says, "We in the Montreat College teacher education program place caring for our students through grace, love, and compassion as the major priority. We at Montreat do not care from a distance. For us, the caring is up close and personal, minute by minute, day by day. Placing caring at the core of each day challenges us to great courage and great love. Love can be lived and expressed in a multitude of ways. It is often the most lasting legacy a teacher can share, and it is the greatest gift a student receives."

When she isn't lecturing or working with students in the classroom, Dr. Braboy enjoys going to the beach, playing music, reading and gardening. She has extended family in nearby Kentucky and Virginia, and her church family at Montreat Presbyterian Church is near and dear to her.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Music, as well as a M.A. and doctorate in Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction Design.
